Welcoming our Young People Back

The COVID-19 outbreak has evidently represented a massive challenge for youth provision within St John Ambulance Northern Ireland. At present we continue to suspend all face-to-face youth meetings, activities and events for the time being for young people. We are taking advice from the National Youth Agency (NYA) and Education Authority (EA) to look at when it might be safe to resume face-to-face activity with our young people.

Despite not being able to meet face to face, I have been inspired by the great work many of our youth teams have undertaken over the last number of months. From delivering virtual youth unit meetings to arranging virtual social activities for young people and providing support to each other. I want to say thank you to all our youth team volunteers.

In May our young people raised over £7000 through our virtual sponsored walk. An amazing achievement!

During the summer period the Regional Youth Team will continue to deliver for our young people 'Clinical Conversations' and 'Bertie Live' virtual sessions alongside joining 'Youth Live' sessions. Our recent virtual bake off and music challenge was a major success!

We look forward to strengthening our digital presence for young people over the coming months. Keep up to date with all our youth activities through our Linktree linktr.ee/SJANIYouth.

Thank you for all you do and Stay Safe!

Dr Andrew Kerr
