Volunteering

Support Roles

Our first aid volunteers are a familiar sight at local and major events, but we also have hundreds of volunteers making things happen behind the scenes.

Every volunteer on the front line, every youth leader, and every first aid trainer is supported by a team of people who helped get them there.

Whatever you enjoy doing, and however much time you can commit, there’s a support volunteer role for you.

'My role in safeguarding means that if there are any issues, adult volunteers and young people can speak to me about them. It’s fantastic to be able to help people who come to me, and to feel that level of trust. I’m studying to be a mental health nurse and volunteering has definitely benefited my professional life. I’m so much more confident in my communication skills. If you’d asked me a year ago about interacting with people, I’d have been worried – now it comes naturally!’

You could be 'the difference between a life lost and a life saved' and not realise it! Within SJA NI we have a lot of roles for volunteers who would like to help behind the scenes. These roles are absolutely crucial to the smooth running of our day to day business; moreover, our ambulances could not turn a wheel without input from support volunteers. The roles on offer can include that of unit secretary, unit treasurer, unit store keeper, unit logistics, unit fundraiser, unit community champion and unit pastoral lead, to name a few.

If you would be interested in any of the roles named above or would like to know more, please contact SJA NI headquarters on 02890 799393.
