Training Terms and Conditions

Bookings and Payment

Invoice will be issued when the booking is confirmed. Joining instructions will be sent 3 weeks prior to course commencement. It is the employer's responsibility to ensure that candidates receive the information and are fully briefed. Full payment must be made 30 days from date of invoice or prior to the course start date, whichever is sooner.

Cancellation Fees

Candidate substitutions may be made up to two weeks before course commencement at no extra charge. Late transfer or cancellation charge of £50 + Vat per candidate will be payable if notification is received less than two weeks prior to course commencement.

Should a candidate fail to arrive on day one of a course, without prior notification we reserve the right to charge the full fee for that course. Candidates who begin a course but do not complete it will be charged the full fee. This applies to all courses.

First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work Requalification and Emergency First Aid at Work courses

HSE stipulate that candidates much receive their minimum set contact teaching hours. 100% attendance and punctuality are necessary. Late arrivals will not be admitted and full course fee will be charged.

Assessment method is a mix of practical scenarios and written work. Candidates who fail to reach the required standard will be unable to act as first aiders in the workplace.

Candidates on a First Aid At Work Requalification course must supply evidence of having completed a prior First Aid at Work full 3 day course before being accepted on to a course.

Selecting a First Aider

The employer is responsible for selecting suitable candidates to act as first aiders in their workplace. Candidates should:

  • be reliable, and good communicators
  • hold aptitude and the ability to absorb new knowledge and learn new skills
  • have the necessary physical fitness to undertake the practical scenarios (eg. Simulation of CPR on casualty on the floor) to allow trainers to observe them and sign off their individual assessment booklet.
  • have ability to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures.

All persons booking on St John Ambulance (NI) courses are presumed to accept these conditions.
